UWC Students visit RSAWEB

Earlier this week, we were visited by two students from the University of the Western Cape, who are currently studying towards a Bcom degree with a major in Information Systems. Cynthia Kanyenze and Tejas Gihwala are part of the UWC Job Shadow programme which RSAWEB actively participates in.

The students had the opportunity to meet 3 of our key personnel members – Jason von Berg (Technical Operations Manager), Vernon Naidoo (Network Operations Engineer) and Ayesha Bagus (HR Manager), who explained the ins and outs of their respective positions.

Tejas noted, “I’m interested in pursuing a career in Business Analysis and Business Information Systems Consulting (ERPs), and found the presentations from Vernon the most interesting as we have a mutual interest in networking, network cabling and the mechanics thereof. Jason’s talk was also very informative, as he covered quite a bit on how networks work, systems analysis and business analysis. He used a lot of technical jargon, but once he’d fully explained it to us, I think we were all on the same page.”

” The environment at RSAWEB is superb, the people were very welcoming , and I particularly enjoyed the presentations from Jason and Vernon. My programming skills aren’t strong, but talking to them opened my eyes to a new path of Information Technology which I’d love to explore.  Although I was only at their offices for 4 hours, I have nothing but praise for them – They really made an effort to welcome us,” commented Cynthia.

Announcement: New RSAWEB Data Centre purchased

We are exceedingly proud to announce the acquisition of a shiny new Data Centre, purchased from a leading financial services provider. The new facility finds it’s home in close proximity to our Cape Town head office in located in Gardens.

The acquisition comes as a result of a increased demand for Cloud services. It’s clear to us that South African businesses are waking up to the advantages of Cloud hosting as opposed to traditional hosting models like in-sourced Data Centres and dedicated servers. We also believe that the prolific emergence of innovative technology companies and supporting community-driven bodies such as Silicon Cape are also factors spurring the growth of Cloud services in the mother city.

Team RSAWEB claims another podium position in Durbanville

Durbanville High School played host to the 3rd leg of the Pro Classic Series on Saturday, where Team RSAWEB set out to defend their Leader’s Jersey. Having to rely on a “skeleton team”, Team RSAWEB felt a little vulnerable in this race, however earned themselves a 2nd place, courtesy of Robert Quinn.

The 48.5km circular route saw cyclists exit Durbanville via Wellington Road, travel along the R312 past the Fisantekraal aerodrome and across the “fruit sellers” four-way intersection. They turned left down the second Voorpaardeberg Road, then down Paardeberg Road and right onto the R302. The cyclists made a right turn at the silos and right again onto Philadelphia Road, before hitting Adderley Road for the final stretch back to Durbanville.
