Setting up the iPass International Dialup

iPass is an International Dialup service that allows you to access the internet from any location around the world using your RSAWeb dialup details. This allows you to travel with your laptop computer and access the web and email from any location. Please note that international roaming needs to be enabed on your RSAWeb Dialup for the iPass service to work.

How to install iPass The iPass dialer can be downloaded from here

Once downloaded, click on the program icon (executable file) to run the installation. During the installation you will be prompted to select different options - we suggest you use the default options.

Once the installation is complete, the iPass Dialer should launch automatically. If it does not, there should be a shortcut named iPass Connect on your Desktop. Double click on the iPass Connect icon to open it.

Step 1: After downloading the iPass software of your choice, please run the executable and click the 'Next' button.

Step 2: Select the destination where you would like to install the iPass application and click the 'Next' button.

Step 3: If "Launch iPassConnect" is not already selected please do so now, and click the 'Next' button.

Step 4: A license agreement will appear. Choose "accept" and the iPass connection software will load. In the upper right-hand corner of the iPass software, you will notice the "Country", "State", "City", and "Area code" pull down menus. Please click on each and select the appropriate entry for your location.

Step 5: After selecting the appropriate information defined in step 4, please select the phone number.

    Troubleshooting iPass

    Check your username and password
Be sure you are including the @rsaweb.co.za at the end of your username. Your dialup username and password will be provided by RSAWeb.

    Update your iPass phonebook
The iPass phonebook automatically updates every time you connect—to ensure high-quality, redundant and dependable service from more than 200 local ISPs. It's a good idea to connect at least once before traveling to make sure your phonebook contains the latest access numbers. From the main screen, click on Options > Update Phonebook.

Confirm you are using the appropriate dial-string prefix
Many hotels and offices require the use of a prefix (usually 0 or 9) when dialing out. Make sure you are using the correct prefix before dialing your access number.

    Try a different access number
iPass builds service redundancy into major business centers around the world to protect against service outages. If one access number isn't working, choose another local number from your updated iPass phonebook. Chances are you'll be connected in moments.

    Charges
iPass is not a free service. There is a once off activation fee of R150 per user as well as a US $ hourly rate for usage. Usage charges vary depending on where the user is dialing from and whether the call is toll-free or normal connection. A pricing schedule is available on request.
