How do I upload my website using FTP?

Uploading your website to the RSAWeb Web Hosting facilities is fairly simple. Follow the steps below to get your site uploaded.

    Step 1: Check your website

You will need to make sure that you have an index.html or index.php in your main directory before you upload.

Step 2: Get your websites FTP details

Your FTP details should be available on your signup email or you can change / view them through the MyRSAWeb Control Panel in the Webhosting section.

Step 3: Use a FTP program

Use a good FTP application, try not to use internet explorer, we have come across too many problems with it. Download a free ftp program like FTP Commander

Step 4: Upload with your FTP program to the webhosting server

Use your FTP servername, username and password provided by MyRSAWeb. Once you have logged into the server, you must select the "public_html" directory and go into it, then go into your websites foldername. This is your websites "root" folder. All the files for the site are stored here.

If using FTP Commander, just click on the new server button, and enter the ftp details as seen below

Step 5: Copy files to the server

Copy the files to the webhosting server by dragging the files from your PC to the server. The files will start uploading. Once it is done, go and check your website to see if the files are viewable. Please note:
    • You need to have an index.html or index.php file to make the site viewable.
    • Remove the existing index.html file that was in the directory
    • You must upload your files into the correct directory - usually /public_html/domainname/
