Important iBurst Settings

How do you send outgoing email on the iBurst network?

Subscribers can send emails by setting the SMTP server or outgoing mail server in the email program (e.g. MS Outlook or MS Outlook Express) to iburstsmtp.rsaweb.co.za

iBurst DNS Servers

  • Primary DNS address 196.30.31.193
  • Secondary DNS address 196.46.70.1

MTU Setting

On broadband routers the suggested MTU setting is 1352 - Microsoft Windows will sort it our if you have a laptop or desktop unit connected directly to your PC. If you use a router of sorts (not the iBurst modem) then set this.

Disco lights effect

If you find your desktop units lights go on and off constantly (strobe effect) you have a localised signal problem. Try doing the following:

  • Relocate the desktop unit somewhere else in your office / house until you get a better signal strength
  • Purchase an external antenna from us, check out here.

Mac OS compatibility

The UTD - desktop unit is fully compatible with a MAC using the ethernet port. The laptop unit is compatible with OSX but NOT the latest version of OS X. Tiger (OS 10.4) is not yet compatible with the iBurst laptop card
