Freshlyground

One of the most acclaimed and successful bands to emerge from South Africa in recent years, Freshlyground are a collective of musicians who blend the infectious kwela style and musical traditions from Zimbabwe and Mozambique with elements of pop, jazz, blues and indie rock. Giving them a unique sound that their fans just can’t get enough of.

Freshlyground released their second studio album Nomvula in July 2004.  Radio quickly picked up on the single ‘Doo Be Doo’ and the catchy song went on to become a crossover favourite amongst a diverse spread of stations and their listeners. ‘Doo Be Doo’ was the most played song in South Africa in 2005.

Freshlyground has toured the world and recorded six increasingly popular albums, culminating in a collaboration with pop superstar Shakira that was chosen as the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
