We will soon be migrating the existing rsaweb.co.za email domain to a newer and more secure environment. The legacy email system we used up until now worked well over the years, however, the global trend has changed to hosting email services in the cloud for improved scalability and redundancy.

What Is Changing And Why?

In the interest of consistency and streamlined administration, we have decided to host the rsaweb.co.za email domain in our hosting environment on the RSAWEB Cloud.

In 2017, the business made the decision to stop providing free email addresses to clients on the rsaweb.co.za domain. The rsaweb.net domain was created for company and system email accounts, while customers have been allowed to continue using the existing free email addresses on the rsaweb.co.za domain – within certain limits and under our acceptable usage policy.

Our new environment offers improved security and enforces complex account passwords. This will address account access issues and mail delivery problems caused by end-users not using secure passwords. Customers will receive regular communication for the duration of the migration timeline outlined below to ensure they are fully informed of the migration progress and next steps.

Migration Timeline

Customers can expect the following timeline for the migration of the rsaweb.co.za domain and phasing out of the legacy email system:

For now, all customers with rsaweb.co.za email accounts will continue sending and receiving their emails on the legacy email system as per normal.

Our engineers are in the process of recreating all existing rsaweb.co.za email accounts, aliases, and email forwarders on the new hosting environment. Customers will receive an email with instructions and information around new passwords and updated mail server settings.

RSAWEB engineers will then migrate all existing emails on the email server, to the new infrastructure in the week preceding the go-live date of Tuesday, 31 May 2022. A final sync of the most recent emails will be conducted on the evening before we go live on the new hosting environment. 

On Tuesday, 31 May 2022, we will update the MX records for the rsaweb.co.za domain to point to the new hosting and customers will be sending and receiving emails on the new environment.  Our support teams will be on standby to assist customers with any isolated issues on a case-by-case basis.

What If I Missed The RSAWEB Emails About The Migration?

Customers who wish to continue using the free-to-use rsaweb.co.za email address must please complete this short form.

Should you not fill in the above form and submit it by the 20th of May 2022, your email account will not automatically be migrated and will stop working on the 31st of May 2022.

Customers who miss the 20 May cut-off may contact our Customer Contact Centre on 087 4700 000 or email [email protected] to arrange for the manual migration of their email accounts. Kindly note that, outside of the planned migration window, it may take the RSAWEB engineers up to 24 hours to complete a manual migration of your free-to-use rsaweb.co.za.

The legacy environment will be retained for a further 90 days, after which it will be decommissioned permanently.
