We’re investing in our children’s future by bringing the world to them. Right into their classrooms. This is just one more way that RSAWEB is connecting tomorrow.
Since 2015 we have been connecting schools to the Internet for free. We believe that every child has the right to the Internet and we are working together with some of our fibre providers to make this a reality.
We started by providing free connectivity to two disadvantaged schools; Gardens Commercial and Laer Skool De Vrije. This opened up a number of new opportunities for the schools and the students. These included offering computer classes, giving the students the ability to use the Internet for research purposes for homework assignments. In addition, the office staff are now able to work more efficiently and implement new online systems.
Following the success we had at these two schools we teamed up with Octotel earlier this year to pipe fibre into Rondebosch Boys and Greenfield Girls schools.
Our fibre providers such as Octotel and Vumatel share our vision of connecting our nation’s children to the rest of the world and investing in their education. By partnering with them we can turn this vision into a reality.
These partnerships allow us to provide more schools with the free infrastructure they need to connect to the Internet in a fast and reliable way. It is through these partnerships that we hope to provide Internet connectivity to every school in the areas where we have access to fibre cables.
Each school receives a 100mbps line with uncapped data on a monthly basis. Should a school feel that they need more, a unique package can be put together to suit their needs.
